What is a Tariff and How It May Affect Your Order
Updated on March 31st 2025
What is a Tariff?
A tariff is a tax or duty imposed by a government on goods imported from other countries.
The United States has introduced several tariffs on imported goods, including items manufactured or shipped from Canada. These are part of trade policy changes made under the current Trump administration.
Will This Affect My Order?
If you’re placing an order to be delivered to the United States, your shipment may be subject to U.S. import tariffs, depending on:
- The country of origin of the product
- The type of product being shipped
- The total value of your order
Tariffs are not charged by Helitowcart. They are assessed and collected by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) upon entry into the country.
If you refuse to pay the applicable duties or tariffs upon delivery, the package will be returned to Helitowcart at your expense, and original and return shipping charges will not be refunded.
Who Pays the Tariff?
If your shipment is subject to tariffs or import duties, the carrier (FedEx, UPS, USPS, etc.) may contact you before or after delivery to collect the applicable fees.
You, the customer, are responsible for:
- Any tariffs, duties, or customs processing fees
- Providing any required documentation to customs if requested
How Can I Know If My Order Will Be Affected?
While we do our best to minimize customs delays and extra costs, we recommend that U.S. customers:
- Check with U.S. Customs or your local carrier for current import rules.
- Be prepared to pay any applicable duties or tariffs upon delivery.
